For the past few days, 2 new animals have made their appearance at the Lille Zoo. The animal park located in the Citadel of the metropolis now welcomes 2 new female maned wolves! Lagoa and Ita are both 2 and a half years old and come to us straight from the Thoiry Zoo.

"After a period of acclimatization in their building, Lagoa and Ita have recently been exploring their new space. In order to allow for a smooth cohabitation with the present tapirs, the park is alternately occupied by one or the other species with visual contact. In a few days, the maned wolves and tapirs will be in direct contact, under the watchful eye of the caretakers."

An endangered species, the maned wolf is part of a European conservation program. The male maned wolf, Harry, who had already taken up residence in Lille, has been transferred to Maubeuge. "SOn the coordinator's recommendations, Harry, the male we were hosting has been transferred to a female at the Zoo de Maubeuge. This meeting allows for genetic mixing and the viable perpetuation of the species. We wish Harry a beautiful offspring," the Lille Zoo enthuses. And here's to a long life for everyone! .
