Lille, a Cyclist City in the Spotlight
This Friday, July 4, 2025, during the morning event “The Future on Bike” held alongside the Grand Depart, the City of Lille received three yellow bicycles awarded by Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO). This label, specially created to highlight towns hosting the Tour de France, recognizes Lille for its strong bike-friendly strategy.
The criteria for this award are rigorous: development of bike paths, educational and awareness-raising actions, concrete support for cycling clubs, and sports activities. Lille ticks all the boxes with its 150 km of bike paths, 110 V’lille stations, and practical services like the recent bike station near Lille Europe station.

Bicycles at the Heart of the Grand Départ
The label “Bike City” is the cherry on top of the cake for a memorable Grand Départ 2025 in Lille. The capital of Flanders isn’t just hosting this mythical race; it's committed to making cycling an obvious choice for its residents. This third edition of the start in 2025 shines a true spotlight on a city that focuses on soft mobility and quality of life.
Last May, Lille even won the national challenge “May on Bikes” in its category, with nearly 593,000 kilometers ridden by its cyclists, a number that speaks volumes about the vitality of biking in the metropolis. The Sustainable Mobility House, created in 2023, is supporting this movement to make daily life easier for cyclists.
