Oh yes! A new swimming pool is going to make its appearance in the urban landscape! Designed as a temporary solution, it will replace the famous Marx Dormoy pool which will be permanently closed next year.
The new pool will be located on the former Marcel Bertrand wasteland, on Boulevard de Strasbourg, near Porte d'Arras. It will feature a 50m pool (yes, you read that right!) to continue offering a quality service. "In anticipation, we have been working on the temporary pool project for several months with the MEL, and we have opted for a 50-meter pool, because as we only had one in the area, if we didn't have a temporary one, we wouldn't have one at all, which would put high-level teams in difficulty, and there is also a school demand for a pool of sufficient size," explains deputy Arnaud Deslandes.
The project will cost between 10 and 11 million euros. The operating costs of the temporary pool will be 750,000 euros annually compared to 1 million for Marx Dormoy.
