For this new study, the experts at Buycycle have done things right by considering no less than 8 criteria to establish the ranking. Among these: the importance of bike lanes, weather conditions, the number of bike shops, and even sharing stations (meaning bike-sharing). And they even interviewed users to obtain a satisfaction level.
The end result? Lille ranks 8th out of the 20 major cities listed. The final result is 3.42 / 5. A fairly decent result but below what we were hoping to find when we see all the efforts made by MEL to make Lille a cycling paradise. It should be noted that in recent years the city has...Hey there, did you hear the news? Electric bikes are now available for rent in Lille, and the MEL is creating glowing bike lanes for nighttime rides! They're also setting up bike parking spots all around the city. Lots of changes happening to make cyclists' lives easier and maybe even encourage drivers to switch up their transportation choices!
Who knows, maybe Lille will earn even more points next year! Good job to everyone involved in making these improvements happen!
