Lille: a paradise for dogs (and their humans)

The ranking, revealed this Thursday, April 24 by 30 Millions d'Amis, One Health, and Mars Petcare, puts Lille once again at the top of France for animal well-being. Among 42 major cities examined, it's our beloved capital of Flanders that snagged the first place.

It's no surprise that here, we take our four-legged companions seriously: there's easy access to parks and gardens, dog waste bag dispensers everywhere, awareness campaigns for residents... and even training sessions to better understand your dog. In Lille, your dog is living its best life... and so are you!

Solidarity, cleanliness, and wide-open spaces: the keys to success

If Lille is once again a hit this year, it's mainly because it checks all the right boxes. Solidarity towards animals, cleanliness of the streets with plenty of dog stations and clever dispensers, plus a staggering number of...100 m² of dog spaces per resident. Result: dogs can frolic freely, and their humans can too.

The city also focuses on raising awareness with regular campaigns to remind everyone that the city belongs to all, even those little paws. In short, here, we pamper the dogs (and a bit of the stray cats too).

A city that keeps innovating for its furry friends

Behind this lovely ranking, there’s a true political will to adapt the city for pets and small wildlife. From official commitments with elected officials dedicated to animal welfare to projects that promote harmonious living in the city, Lille shows that it can be both a bustling metropolis and a cozy haven for our beloved pets.

And honestly, what could be better than sipping a coffee on the terrace while your dog chills peacefully at your feet in one of the many accessible parks?
