It's now the turn of the Jardin des Plantes to undergo surgery to give it a makeover ! In order to better showcase it, new developments are underway and it will be completely transformed. The ambition is twofold for the City of Lille : to make it a botanical garden without excluding green spaces for residents while also gaining the prestigious label mentioned above.

A brand new collection of aquatic plants is coming to Lille

As you know, a restoration of water is currently underway. And where there's water, there's... a new collection of aquatic plants ! « "From herbarium sheets, we have selected a heritage flora present in the marshes of the Deûle in the 19th century, partially lost during the backfilling of the moats." », explains Ségolène Dietrich, in charge of...

Collections. The Jardin des Plantes will therefore welcome new plants such as meadowsweet, mint, reeds, water iris, and guinea fowl fritillary. In total, around a hundred new plants will complement this beautiful collection. Alongside them, ornamental plants for aesthetics will be present such as lotus flowers or water lilies. Perfect for lovely walks in the coolness of this summer! If all goes as planned, the Jardin des Plantes and its water feature will be ready by the end of the month! Enjoy!
