A museum on Wednesday evening, not enough for you? Well, wait until you see what LaM has in store. Starting in October, the modern art, contemporary art, and art brut museum in Villeneuve-d'Ascq is ready to shake things up a bit with 1000 Morceaux, a brand new monthly event where artworks will meet dance, music, and DJ sets. And it's completely free. Plus a beer within arm's reach, if that's what it takes to convince you.

LaM will now open free of charge until 11pm once a month

First event on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, then again on the first Wednesday of each month: from 7pm to 11pm, LaM will open its doors free of charge for a late-night event designed as a true artistic evening. Called 1000 Morceaux, this new format will look different at each edition, but keep the same winning recipe: an open stage, a contemporary performance, then a DJ set to wrap up the night. The museum's collections will remain at the heart of the experience, but in a far less hushed atmosphere than on a Sunday afternoon.

idi. The first three evening events are moreover organized with L’Aéronef, which participated in the musical programming.

For the first one, a Northern talent behind the turntables

And LaM made quite the smart choice with their first guest! On October 7th, the evening will wrap up with Canblaster, aka Cédric Steffens. The producer hails from Douai and notably founded Club Cheval with Myd, Panteros666 and Sam Tiba, three fellow artists who are closelylinked to Lille's electronic scene. Safe to say this DJ set will feel like a homecoming. A figure of French electro, Canblaster navigates between electro, bass music and garage. He'll be behind the decks at LaM from 9pm to 10:45pm.

Drag queens, folk and performance: the evening kicks off at 7pm

But there's no need to wait until 9pm to arrive. From 7pm to 8pm, the first open stage will be hosted by La Cohue, with three artists from quite different worlds: Ruby Mantza, on the folk and acoustic side, then drag queens Barbara Rockwell and Eya Lotus. At 8pm, the vibe shifts with choreographer and dancer Aina Alegre, who will present REVERBERATIONS. A physical performance built around a body in a duel with a drum kit, between movement and rhythm. Then Canblaster takes over until 10:45pm. A first edition that pretty much sums up the idea behind 1000 Morceaux: mixing disciplines, audiences and atmospheres within the same evening.

Hot dogs, croques-buns and beers in the mix

Because a four-hour evening out on an empty stomach would have been a far less appealing concept, Pigments, the LaM café run by Florent Ladeyn, will also offer light refreshments. On the menu for the evening: hot dogs in meat or vegetarian versions, croques-buns and beers. Perfect for making a real evening of it rather than just a quick stop between two artworks. Best of all, the entire event is free, from 7pm to 11pm. You simply need to book your ticket in advance through the museum's ticketing system.

And that's just the beginning

If you miss October 7th, 1000 Morceaux is designed to stick around. The evening events will always take place on the first Wednesday of the month, with different programming each time. Book your free ticket
