From traditional to spicy to cheesy, La Moule Rit on the side of Dunkirk can proudly claim to be simply the temple of mussel and fries in the North (maybe even in the whole of France). In short, to describe this article, we could simply call it the ULTIMATE DELICIOUS DEAL OF THE WEEK! There you go.  

The Laughing Mussel. Maybe you've already dragged your carcass here for lunch on a sunny day by the sea. But, goodness, why isn't this place talked about more? Here, on the dam of Malo-les-Bains, you'll find the most incredible restaurant dedicated to mussels and fries. In total: 80 different recipes. You think it's a fake? Not at all! On the menu, the mussels are divided into different categories:
  • The Classics including marinara, cream, or garlic
  • White Wines including one with Champagne and fines herbes
  • Creams such as leek or a fisherman's mix blended with fish soup
  • Cheesy with plenty of choices like maroilles, camembert, gorgonzola or comté
  • Spicy (for a culinary journey) with tandoori mussels, spicy chorizo, or Thai spices
  • Crazy with outrageous combinations like red wine, triple karmeliet, or wheat beer
Here is where you can indulge in a savory treat-like mussels cooked in cream, white wine and garlic, or brown sugar, or even whisky ketchup & pili pili! In short, the hardest part is really choosing. The most incredible thing about it is that we could expect a frozen side dish... BUT NO! We go for some delicious homemade fries cooked in beef fat. Even the homemade mayo is to die for. We recommend you make a reservation and go straight for the €25 formula: mussels of your choice + fries + mayo of course, beer or pitcher, dessert, coffee. That's it. We have nothing else to add.
