An Italian-Style Bakery in Lille
You thought bread was just for accompaniment? At Il Forno, it's the star of the show! Andrea, a former pharma consultant turned passionate baker, opened this gem in 2024. Since then, he has been serving up the foodies of the neighborhood and the finest tables in Lille (hello Supercute).
What makes it unique? A delightful homemade sourdough that’s uncut to keep all its fluffiness, lovingly crafted in a Lille oven. The crusts are thick, the crumbs are plump, and each batch radiates generosity.

France or Italy? Both, my friend.
On the stalls, it’s a delightful blend of French heritage and Italian temptations. Rustic baguettes, fruity breads, babka… And also soft focaccias, maritozzo stuffed with mascarpone and strawberries, or even vegan brioche with olive oil, perfect for dipping in tapenade.
Everything is sourced with care (organic flour and eggs, priority to local products) and seasonally adapted. The little extra: you won’t believe it comes from us, but if you stop by around noon, they sell pizza by the slice, which changes with the seasons. In June, it was all about zucchini and pecorino!

A vibe like over there
What stands out as well is the welcome. Andrea talks about sourdough like it's a pet, lets you taste everything fresh out of the oven… and makes you want to take everything home. Here, there's no marketing fluff. Just good, real stuff, and lots of warmth.
