In Lille, autumn has apparently found its official address. Since early September, Au Chaudron Fêlé has been welcoming lovers of comforting coffees, pastries, and fantastical worlds in a witches' inn setting. And among the cauldrons, prophecies, and seasonal treats, it's hard to do better than this right in the middle of October.
A true witches' inn in the heart of Lille
Located on place Jeanne-d'Arc, just a stone's throw from Jean-Baptiste Lebas park, Chaudron Fêlé opened its doors on September 5, 2026. Behind the project is Pauline, a 32-year-old Lille native who had long dreamed of creating a café dedicated to magic and witchcraft. After several years working at an agency specializing in gamification, she finally imagined her own universe, borrowing certain codes from the immersive experience world. The result looks more like an old inn straight out of a fairy tale than anything else.
o;au coffee shop very pared-back, the kind you see popping up on every corner. Exposed brick, moldings, vintage thrifted furniture, plants, cushions and natural materials make up the interior. Pauline actually claims to be channeling the spirit of the three good fairies' inn from Sleeping Beauty rather than a carbon copy of Harry Potter. And honestly, it really works for her.Even the soundscape adds to the magic
The décor doesn't stop at the walls. The sounds of a bubbling cauldron and witches chatting away accompany visitors during their break. At the entrance, a cauldron also lets you draw a little kind prophecy to keep as a souvenir. The place even has its own mythology surrounding three witches, the Twigwood sisters, from a family of broomstick makers.

Pumpkin spice and pumpkin-shaped cinnamon rolls
And naturally, in October, the menu perfectly captures the vibe. Le Chaudron Fêlé offers hot and cold drinks crafted like elixirs, with permanent recipes and seasonal specials. Vanilla-cinnamon latte, chai latte, hot chocolate, organic teas, herbal infusions from the Hauts-de-France region, homemade lemonade, and even more fantastical drinks complete the lineup. Among the creations that particularly catch the eye this autumn, you'll naturally find the pumpkin spice, the absolute star of the season, but also cinnamon rolls shaped like little pumpkins. And honestly, that's a pretty tough autumn act to follow. The menu also includes cookies, brownies, and cinnamon brioche rolls, with a predominantly vegan offering. A deliberate choice by Pauline, who wanted to offer more pastries without milk or butter in this
type of address.Potions that literally shine
For those wanting to push the experience a bit further than plain coffee with milk, some drinks play the magic card quite completely. The Unicorn Potion, for instance, blends blueberry and blackcurrant in a lemonade enhanced with edible glitter. The kind of drink you order as much to watch it swirl in your glass for a good couple of minutes as to actually drink it. And obviously, between the elixir-style names, the colorful recipes, and the witchy atmosphere, everything is pretty much calibrated to end up on your story before your first sip.
A little magic shop tucked in the back of the coffee shop
The place doesn't stop at coffee, anyway. A shop section brings together mugs, candles, puzzles, reading accessories, and even dragon-shaped bookends. Le Chaudron Fêlé also welcomes creations from small local brands, as long as they stay in the fantasy, medieval, or magical universe. The selection is set to evolve regularly. So you can technically pop in for ato have a tea and leave with a candle, a mug and a dragon tucked under your arm. It happens.
Potion-making and wand workshops throughout October
And right now, the timing couldn't be better. Starting this October, the coffee shop is launching creative workshops around its magical universe: potion-making, Halloween crowns, wand crafting and wizard-inspired baking. Story readings are also planned for children. Adults will have their own special moments too, with more evening-focused activities: feather calligraphy, journaling, herbal tea creation and workshops exploring scents and comfort are among the ideas developed by the founder. The long-term goal is to make this place a real meeting point for book lovers, fantasy enthusiasts and creative hobbyists alike.

Even the loyalty card feels like a game
Here's another pretty clever detail: the traditional stamp card punched ten times has gotten a little magical makeover. Customers can choose from several characters and watch their profile evolve with each visit. Fun little challenges complement the loyalty points and unlock different rewards. A mechanic directly inspired by Pauline's professional background in gamification. And honestly, leveling up to earn your next cinnamon roll seems like perfectly valid motivation to us.
A spot that's perfectly timed for autumn
Open for only a few weeks, Au Chaudron Fêlé seems to have nailed its timing with remarkable precision. Between the warm tones of the décor, cinnamon-flavored drinks, pumpkin-shaped pastries, and Halloween workshops, October is probably the best month to discover it. The spot has a cozy indoor capacity, complemented by a terrace, which adds to its charm.
Cozy summer. And if the idea of sipping a pumpkin spice in a witches' inn while a cauldron bubbles away in the background does absolutely nothing for you, we're not quite sure what it would take to get you excited about autumn's arrival.
