Great news: this show is completely free!
An evening of opera and reimagined tales
On Thursday, April 30, the Conservatory of Lille invites you to a timeless evening featuring a musical storytelling show, brought to life by the school's singing class. For nearly two hours, the students will revisit two beloved childhood classics: Hansel and Gretel, with music by the German composer Engelbert Humperdinck, and Sleeping Beauty, with music by Cécile Simon. In other words: a much more elegant version than the old DVD we watched on repeat every Wednesday afternoon. Blending opera, lyrical singing, and a fairy tale atmosphere, the promise is simple: an enchanted interlude, accessible to all, even if you've never set foot in a conservatory.

The perfect setting for a somewhat magical evening
The gathering takes place in the auditorium of the Lille Conservatory, located on Alphonse Colas Street, a place that we sometimes forget, even though it regularly hosts concerts, performances, and shows in a much more intimate ambiance than the big classic venues. No need to pull out your evening gown or master the vocabulary of opera: you come as you are to enjoy a delightful suspended moment. And honestly, between another Netflix night and a free live musical tale, the choice is worth considering.
A free (and honestly lovely) outing
The real luxury in this story? The entry is free and without reservation. So no excuses! Whether you’re a fan of classical music, nostalgic for Grimm's tales, or simply looking for a different outing idea in Lille this week, this show checks quite a few boxes. And watching Hansel and Gretel again without fearing the witch is quite something!
It has a certain charm.
