Outdoor Cinema Under the Stars and Screenings All Over the City

This year, the festival is changing its scenery and hosting its outdoor screenings at the Saint-Sauveur Train Station, which is being transformed into a giant open-air theater. Inside, you can also settle in comfortably to discover a variety of short films in different formats: fiction, animation, documentary, or experimental. With L’Hybride closed for renovations, it’s the cinema l’Univers that will step in, along with the Auditorium of the Palais des Beaux-Arts and the legendary Sébastopol Theater, which will host the iconic Night of Animation.

Short Format Magic

On the programming side, we have the recipe that makes the festival special: short film competitions, a spotlight on regional creations, a creative challenge (the Short Marathon), youth screenings, and meet-and-greets with the directors. This year’s guest of honor for the 25th edition: Pierre-Luc Granjon, a master of animation, who will share his world through a masterclass and several screenings. And for the bravest among us: the Animation Night, nine hours of back-to-back films in a high-energy atmosphere.

An outing for everyone (and almost free)

And you'll see, the festival is still one of the best deals of the back-to-school season whether you're with family, friends, or flying solo: almost all the screenings are free. The only exception is the Animation Night at the Sébasto, but it's definitely an experience you should have at least once. And to keep the celebration going, head over to the Children's Village at Arenberg on October 4 and 5, with workshops and screenings for little cinephiles.
