Premieres of Series from Around the World
Series Mania is the dream opportunity to discover new shows before anyone else does! We are particularly excited about Asterix and Obelix: The Chef’s Battle, a fresh adaptation of one of the cult comic albums by Alain Chabat and Fabrice Joubert. We also can’t wait to see 37 Seconds, an Arte series that follows the investigation into the sinking of the Breton trawler Bugaled Breizh, which tragically claimed the lives of five sailors, and Anaon, a fantastic thriller for France Télé directed by the wonderful David Hourrègue (SKAM France, Germinal). In total, nearly 48 series will be revealed to us in an eclectic program, all for free!
The festival also celebrates the hard work of directors, writers, and actors.
The prestigious guests are invited to either accept or not accept an award, including Amanda Seyfried, a must-see star from one of the greatest musical comedies of all time, I’m talking about Mamma Mia!; the director Costa-Gavras (Z, Amen, The Last Breath); Miguel Bernardeau, known for the dark Spanish series Elite; the most iconic redhead Christina Hendricks (Mad Men); Charlie Brooker, the creator and writer of the phenomenon Black Mirror; and some French stars: Kyan Khojandi (Bref), Audrey Fleurot (the main face of HPI), Camélia Jordana, Nina Meurisse, Jonathan Cohen, Thomas Jolly, and, more unusually, François Hollande! Multiple rounds of awards will be given in front of an enthusiastic audience: the two main categories are the International Competition and the International Panorama, presided over...The American screenwriter and actress Pamela Adlon and the French writer Lola Lafon will be featured respectively. They will be followed by the French competition, the award for the best comedy, and the short formats competition. Eclectic categories to celebrate all genres! We invite you to discover the festival agenda so you can plan your visit!Voir cette publication sur Instagram
A Festival of Parallel Activities
To chat about the latest news surrounding series, an exciting series of talks is planned: the role of the president of the Republic in fiction, which justifies the presence of François Hollande, the Ramadan series, the legacy of David Lynch (drawing on the timeless Twin Peaks)… Plus, there will be all kinds of signings and live recordings of film podcasts. An alternative journey into the world of series is also within your reach thanks to the Forever 90’s exhibition, which will take you through the cult programs that defined the decade, from Friends and ER to Saved by the Bell.
And if you weren't already convinced, know that at the opening ceremony of the festival on March 21, you can catch the European premiere!
New Carême, a fresh series on Apple TV+ directed by Martin Bourboulon (Les Trois Mousquetaires, Eiffel) featuring Benjamin Voisin, Lyna Khoudri, and Jérémie Renier. To celebrate this, the Series Mania Opening Show will take place starting at 6:30 PM in front of the Nouveau Siècle, on Pierre Mendès France Square, with a completely reimagined red carpet. What can you expect? Talents and personalities from the cultural and series world, along with unique artistic performances and plenty of exciting animations, all to be enjoyed live on-site or on the big screen. For the closing ceremony, scheduled for Friday, March 28 at 7:30 PM, the fifth season of the TF1 series HPI will be introduced to the audience, and just like the opening ceremony, those who can't make it in person will be able to watch the event live online.Voir cette publication sur Instagram
A Meeting Place
While some enjoy the comfort of their home to watch their favorite series in complete peace, others dream of meeting their favorite stars in real life. And lucky for them, Series Mania is doing everything possible to connect the series industry with its audience. Every evening before the International Competition screenings at the Nouveau Siècle right in the heart of Lille, the teams from the screenings walk down a red carpet worthy of the biggest ceremonies, open to the public.
Each morning, the festival will announce the personalities attending that evening, who will stroll down the carpet for a photocall, interviews, and meet-and-greets with the audience. So, it's your chance to get up close and personal with your favorite stars, declare your admiration, snap some memorable photos, or even ask for an autograph (the holy grail for true fans).
We already know some of the personalities who will walk the opening day of the... festival, featuring the composer Pedro Winter, who will next perform at the Villages Festival for a crazy DJ set, along with actors Zinedine Soualem (Divertimento) and Anne Consigny (Elle), the hilarious Mickaël Youn, and the director Vincent Perez (A Matter of Honor). A little tip: come early to make sure you get a good spot!
