The Lille Bistro Where You'll Want to Stay Until the Digestif

Here, you climb a staircase as steep as justice to find yourself in a slightly rustic country house-style room, complete with beams, raw wood, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Costaud is the antithesis of an Instagrammable brunch: a restaurant that is genuine, simple, and effective.

At the helm is Louis, who is also behind the brand new festive restaurant Fada (The one at Nouveau Siècle). Trained at the school of good food and great times, he turned an old listed building from the Vieux Marché aux Chevaux into a lively bar-bistro-canteen.

Lunch: a sandwich that packs a punch, dinner: sharing plates

Costaud is primarily a sandwich shop for lunch. Every two weeks, the menu changes, but it always sticks to one rule: you won't leave here hungry. We couldn't resist their brioche sandwich filled with grilled halloumi, homemade pesto, arugula, and a rich Caesar sauce. The verdict? It's (very) generous, deliciously gooey, and it's like a delightful taste explosion during the day. You can also enjoy some “snackable” plates that are both effective and flavorful.

In the evening, we switch to sharing plates: watermelon tataki, pork terrine, dripping garlic bread, and a whole bunch of delicious homemade bites that change with the seasons. And of course, wash it down with a glass of natural wine or a well-chosen local beer.

The cherry on top? The wine cellar is literally in the room!

On the top floor, you can privatize a large table for a birthday, a team aperitif, or a family dinner. And you can help yourself directly from the wine cellar that stands there, as if it were meant to be. A friendly atmosphere, and with style!
