Known in the Dijon region, the "Devil's Gate", also known as the "Bonnet Gate" or "White Lady's Gate", is imbued with mystery due to the numerous legends and stories that surround it. It's an ideal place to experience some thrills during Halloween!

THE STORY OF THE DEVIL'S DOOR IN DIJON

In 1848, Hias Bonnet, after completing his law studies, decides to leave city life behind and devote himself to agriculture on the Champmoron estate. He transforms the property into a farm with sheepfolds, stables, and manure pits.

Some say he had salvaged fragments of religious or feudal buildings after the Revolution of 1789, and used these elements to create the distinctive door. Others mention elements salvaged from the Bernardon hotel in Dijon that were destroyed during the revolution.

Hias Bonnet passed away in 1873 and was buried according to his wishes in a slightly elevated spot in the valley. There have been alleged apparitions reported at this location.

PARANORMAL PHENOMENA

As they walked back to their car, they came face to face with the dog, this time on fire, and a strange human shadow, also on fire. Others claim to have seen the White Lady, or the devil. But who really knows!

A SECT AT THE DEVIL'S DOOR IN DIJON

In the late 90s, a sect known as "Love and Mercy", now disbanded"Eliane, who frequented this place for esoteric ceremonies. A young girl claimed to have visions of the Virgin Mary at the devil's door. It all began on the night of August 15-16, 1996, when Eliane Deschamps stated that she saw the Virgin Mary in the middle of a forest at precisely 00:06. Since then, Eliane Deschamps, the founder of the "Love and Mercy" movement, maintains that this apparition occurs every 15th of the month, at the same time. In 2014, Eliane Deschamps was charged with exploitation of weakness related to sectarian activities in July of the same year.
