By driving just under an hour and a half from Dijon, it is possible to take a leap back in time. A guaranteed journey to the Middle Ages with a visit to the village of Noyers.

Ranked among the most beautiful villages in France, Noyers (in Yonne) is surrounded by the river Serein. Its beautiful little cobblestone streets, its half-timbered houses, its ramparts and fortress, the defense towers and the old castle give it a real medieval city look.

A Place of Craftsmanship

The unique architecture of Noyers is not its only asset. Like in many other villages in Burgundy, you can find vineyards and several wine cellars. But it is also a place loved by artisans, where you can discover workshops of pottery, leathercraft and ceramics or art galleries.

A movie-worthy setting

Finally, if while strolling through the village you feel like you're in a film, it's not surprising. Many directors have fallen in love with Noyers. This has led to its appearance in a dozen feature films, including La Grande Vadrouille. Even Disney studios were inspired to create the village of Belle in the live action Beauty and the Beast.
