So, why buy a Switch now when a much better one is on the way?

Switch 2: a Switch, but better

Nintendo believes in not changing a winning team. The Switch 2 takes the concept of its big sister: hybrid console, cartridge or digital games, and the ability to play in handheld mode or on TV. But this time, we get a bigger screen, upgraded Joy-Cons (apparently magnetic!), and a new USB-C port that’s super handy for charging on the go.

By the way, Nintendo has already revealed a first trailer and is planning a big Nintendo Direct event on April 2nd to share more about the specifications and upcoming games.

On the games side: backward compatibility and surprises

Great news: the Switch 2 is backwards compatible with games from the first Switch, both physical and digital versions. And for Mario Kart fans, get ready: Mario Kart 9 might just arrive on the new console! However, be aware that some titles might experience compatibility issues, so it's best to wait for the official list from Nintendo.

Where and when to try out the Switch 2?

If you're the impatient type, mark your calendar for a "Nintendo Switch 2 Experience" happening in Paris from April 4 to 6. What a perfect excuse for a trip to the capital, right? For now, nothing has been announced in Dijon, but with a bit of luck, the console might be available for testing in some video game stores in the next few months.

The price is still a mystery, but experts believe it should be around €399 at launch.
