The heat has settled in Dijon and it clearly doesn’t plan to leave anytime soon. Under a red heatwave alert, Côte-d'Or is facing particularly high temperatures, along with tropical nights that make it tough to recover. To help the residents get through this episode in the best conditions, several municipal and cultural facilities are opening their doors as genuine air-conditioned refuges.

The Théâtre des Feuillants opens its doors exceptionally

This is undoubtedly the most symbolic measure announced by the City of Dijon. Until June 29, the Théâtre des Feuillants is welcoming Dijonnaises and Dijonnais for free, allowing them to enjoy an air-conditioned space during the hottest hours of the day. The venue is open from 10 AM to 7 PM and offers a break from the overheated asphalt and apartments turned into saunas.

This exceptional opening is part of the protection measures put in place by the City.

the municipality to support residents during this particularly intense weather episode. More information is available on the city of Dijon’s website.

Libraries, museum, and the City of Gastronomy come to the aid of Dijon residents

The Théâtre des Feuillants is not the only refuge available. Several libraries in the municipal network also have air-conditioned spaces. This is particularly true for the Mansart library, the Champollion Reading Point, as well as part of the Canal Port library.

For those who prefer to combine the useful with the enjoyable, the Dijon Museum of Fine Arts and the exhibition spaces of the International City of Gastronomy and Wine are also fully air-conditioned. An excellent excuse to discover an exhibition, admire some masterpieces, or simply enjoy a moment in the cool.

Authorities also remind the importance of g...precautions: drink regularly, avoid physical activities during the hottest hours, and check in on elderly or isolated individuals. The forecasts from Météo-France give us hope for a gradual drop in temperatures early next week, but until then, these spots might just become the most sought-after places in Dijon.
