According to the readings from the Dijon-Longvic weather station, the sun has only shone for… 11 little hours. Yes, indeed. That's barely less than one hour a day. So let's just say we haven't seen much of it.

A December month in XXL fog

During the first 18 days of December, no less than 15 days have been marked by fog. The result? Waking up to a mysterious atmosphere, morning commutes feel like a film noir, and the light struggles to break through even at noon. Dijon is definitely embracing that winter mood… but it's a very, very cloudy version.

With such a lack of sunshine, it’s hard not to feel a little down. The low sky, absent light, and surrounding humidity sometimes give the impression that the day never really started. Luckily, the Christmas lights…

l, the shop windows and cozy cafés brighten up the atmosphere a bit.

A Tip to See the Sun Near Dijon

Good news for the motivated folks: the sun hasn’t completely disappeared, it’s just hiding sometimes… above the sea of fog. To increase your chances of sunshine, don't hesitate to gain a little altitude. Over by Corcelles-les-Monts, Talant, Étaules, or even in the heights west of Dijon, the sky sometimes clears up and the sun finally makes its appearance. A morning stroll or a little detour after work can sometimes be just what you need to find a bit of light.

We also comfort ourselves as best we can: the winter solstice is approaching, and with it, the gradual return of longer days. Even though the sun is still playing hard to get, every minute counts!

Gained clarity is a small victory. In the meantime, we pull out our scarves, order a hot chocolate, and hold onto hope… Dijon will surely find a bit of light again.
