Finally, we can take a deep breath: on Monday, January 27, Dijon saw temperatures rise to 12°C, and this is just the beginning. Throughout this week, the afternoons should hover around 10°C, enough to forget the icy temperatures of the past few weeks.

Nationwide, the trend is similar: most of France will enjoy temperatures above 10°C. A real breath of fresh air… or almost. Because along with these mild temperatures comes a little bit of a poisoned gift: the rain. Yes, Dijon remains true to its nickname as the capital of snails!

But don’t pack away your winter clothes just yet: next weekend, we might wake up to frosty mornings and temperatures flirting with zero. Don’t worry, the sun could peek out next Monday. It’s a week of ups and downs!

Red Alert: Maximum Vigilance in Certain Regions

While Dijon can breathe a sigh of relief, other regions in France aren't as fortunate. Ille-et-Vilaine (35) is under red alert for major flooding, due to rising waters on the Seiche and Vilaine rivers. It's an extreme situation that calls for extra caution and strict adherence to the guidelines from the authorities.

In other parts of the country, several departments, like Calvados (14), Eure (27), and Maine-et-Loire (49), are under orange alert for flooding. Meanwhile, the Hautes-Alpes (05) are facing avalanche risks, and Finistère (29) and Morbihan (56) are dealing with significant waves and submersions. It's a real mix of natural risks to keep an eye on!

Should we put away our gloves and hats?

Spoiler alert: no! Unless you enjoy flirting with a cold, it's better to keep those accessories handy. While it's true that warmer weather is here, mornings can still be chilly, and with winter making a comeback this weekend, it's wise to be prepared.
