Botanical Journey at the Royal Saltworks of Arc-et-Senans

The Royal Saltworks is an ancient salt manufacturing site commissioned by King Louis XV and built between 1775 and 1779 by the visionary architect Claude-Nicolas Ledoux. He revealed the Immense Circle, finally realizing his dream of a perfect circle! This new space is very rich in biodiversity: experimentation, circular economy, education, and guaranteed high environmental quality!

Discover the thematic gardens: a feast of colors and scents, medicinal and aromatic plants, ancient grains, and a permaculture vegetable garden. Explore the moving gardens with varied atmospheres where you can stroll in the shade of trees or walk barefoot on the rich humus.
