Our city has just been crowned "Dream City" No. 1 in France! According to the site Ville de Rêve, Dijon outshines Brest and Angers with an impressive score of 79.5/100. But what exactly makes Dijon this hidden gem where life is so delightful? Spoiler: it's not just the mustard.

Why the City of Dukes is the Winner in 2025

Dijon beautifully blends historical heritage with a vibrant contemporary life. With over 200 historical monuments, including the Palace of the Dukes and the stunning Place de la Libération, the city has maintained its elegance from the past while modernizing. Seven museums, festivals, and a flourishing artistic scene: culture is a strong point, allowing Dijon to boast a score of 72/100 in this area.

In terms of education, we reach new heights with a marvelous 79/100. From kindergarten to university, Dijon offers renowned institutions and an ideal environment for students. And to unwind after classes? Dijon also excels in leisure activities (85/100) and in sports.(84/100).

Dijon, an accessible and dynamic city... but with room for improvement

With a score of 72/100 in accessibility, Dijon is well-served by public transport and the national train station. By car, you're less than an hour away from Dole-Jura Airport. One small drawback: charging stations for electric cars are not in abundance.

On the work and economy side, Dijon holds its own with a score of 67/100. Admittedly, the job market has a few challenges, but the city remains dynamic and welcoming for entrepreneurs.

The cost of living (62/100) is quite reasonable, especially regarding real estate and rents, making Dijon an interesting option for those seeking a good balance between quality of life and budget control.

Dijon, an almost perfect city (but not for beach lovers)

Let’s be honest: if you're looking for sunshine all year round, this isn’t the place for you. With a modest 42/100 in weather, Dijon can't compete with the French Riviera. Another weak point: the lack of green spaces in the city center.

(only 19/100 in "nature").
