On July 20, 2025, Moutchic Beach will host the very first edition of the Tong Masters, an event that is as quirky as it is spectacular. Created by Médoc Atlantique Tourism and the City of Lacanau, in partnership with Cool Shoe Corp, this gathering aims to become the new summer highlight of Médoc Atlantique.

A Beach Sport Turned Official Competition

Turning a casual vacation move into a technical and unifying event: that's the challenge taken on by the organizers of the Tong Masters. Here, the principle seems simple: kick a flip-flop with your foot and have a teammate catch it mid-air. In practice, it requires precision, coordination, and a dash of strategy.

Teams are formed in pairs and compete in three categories: Junior (children) - Family (intergenerational) and Adults (+15 years). Each duo gets two qualifying throws, with the best performance counted. In the finals: one decisive throw. Everything is strictly timed, following a rigorous set of rules:

  • Approved flip-flop (weight < 250 g, soft sole)

  • No crossing the shooting line

  • ">Preparation time limited to 1 minute

Two days, two beaches, one final

Before the big event in Lacanau on July 20th, a warm-up session is scheduled for July 19th at Soulac-sur-Mer, from 2 PM to 6 PM. On the beach, teams will have the chance to secure their spot in the final the next day, all in a friendly and lively atmosphere.

On July 20th, it’s time for the official competition on the Moutchic beach in Lacanau. The area will be open to the public, with brightly colored teams, a fun village, and a festive vibe making this an exciting day to remember. The event is open to everyone and free, while spots last.available.
