A Panty or Brief: A Ticket for a Fresh Start
The idea of the Underwear Festival was born in 2017 in the North, aiming to collect new underwear for those in need. The famous guinguette by the Garonne, Chez Alriq, is hosting the Underwear Festival this Thursday, March 27 for an unusual and charitable evening. The concept is simple yet impactful: donate a new piece of underwear – be it panties, briefs, boxers, shorts, or a bra – in exchange for a ticket to a night that's sure to be memorable.
This solidarity collection, in support of the Samu social de Gironde, began in the department at over 40 social centers and will continue until March 31. The situation is clear: every year, between 20 and 30 tons of clothing are distributed to the homeless, but basic underwear, which is essential for the dignity of those living on the streets, is severely lacking.
A festive, cultural, and committed event
In 2024, more than 4,500 items were collected in Lille compared to just 50 the previous year. This year, Franck Audin, who brought the initiative to Gironde, promises an unforgettable evening with a DJ set and the participation of the band Los Temporos, made up of medical students, to get everyone dancing!
A fun and engaging moment, all about addressing a national issue while having a great time. Virginie Alriq, the manager of the guinguette, is thrilled to be part of this wonderful initiative: « If culture can draw attention to the daily work of the social emergency services, that’s a win-win ! »
