Theatre des Chartrons: one of the last independent theaters in the city
It is one of the few private theaters in Bordeaux that is fighting to remain independent (there are only 5 left) and survive without government assistance. It found its home in the Tatry Gallery in 2001, in former cellars dating back to 1880. 13 years after its appearance in this unique location, the Theatre des Chartrons has never been more trendy. The reason? Its exclusive and intimate programming, offered to live performance enthusiasts. Children are also catered to with a dedicated program that changes with every school vacation.

Exciting Entertainment Program in Bordeaux's Chartrons Theater
With its spacious air-conditioned auditorium seating 170 people, this theater follows the grand tradition of high-end Parisian theaters. Featuring well-written comedies (no room for silly or vulgar humor), the Chartrons Theater hosts carefully crafted and refined plays. Some of these have even been performed by renowned actors in the field. Just take their current play "I'd rather we stay friends" written by Laurent Ruquier and directed by Thierry Rémi. Or how about "Addition", a play depicting three friends going through a midlife crisis, also on stage by Clément Michel. Another pThis is highly anticipated, isn't it? "The Invitation" by Adrien Raquat, which was performed in Paris by Gad Elmaleh and Philippe Lellouche.©Théâtre des Chartrons
Restaurant, covered terrace and free parking on site
To top it all off, the Théâtre des Chartrons has its own restaurant with a covered terrace. Spectators are invited, before or after the show, to enjoy an immersive culinary experience to extend the emotion and conviviality.
With a simple yet remarkably effective menu that focuses on platters, savory pies, and salads paired with a nice selection of local beers and wines. Despite being incredibly popular (reservations are highly recommended), the prices remain very reasonable. Open two hours before the start of the plays, the artists are often present to interact with the audience. We love the idea!
