Introducing you to Refuge de Wallon. Until now very discreet, it is located at the confluence of 4 valleys on that of Marcadau. Nestled at an altitude of 1865m, it was completely renovated for 2 years and has been offering since August 2022 a 100% eco-responsible rental. Its real asset is the unique setting it offers.
In the middle of the mountains, with nothing and absolutely nothing around, visitors are engulfed in a complete immersion in the mountains. With no network, and only ibex as neighbors (roaming freely in their natural environment), the disconnection is total. Every year, many climbers trek through the mountains for 2.5 hours from Pont d'Espagne to discover it.

Wallon : The Largest Refuge in the Pyrenees
Easy to access even in winter, the refuge is the ideal starting or ending point for many mountain hikes. Snowshoeing or ski touring, hikers are amazed to discover this small self-sufficient and environmentally friendly magical haven. Fun fact, it is named after Édouard Wallon, a French Pyrenean mountaineer from the 19th century. Nestled amidst 29 surrounding lakes (loved by fishermen), 3 rivers, and numerous mountain passes, its location is exceptional.

Its large capacity and 113 beds make it the largest refuge in the Pyrenees in terms of accommodation. The architecture blends into the landscape to preserve the beauty of the valley. Since its renovation, the refuge is open all year round except from November to mid-December to prepare for the peak season (opening on December 17 until November 2023).
