The Mailloueyre Pond

Right there, in the town of Mimizan in Les Landes, you will go through a managed biological reserve and a Natura 2000 classified site. This 12-kilometer route offers breathtakingly diverse landscapes. You will start your journey along the banks of the Mimizan Current, then pass through the forest area before arriving along the coastal sand dune and finishing at the banks of the Mailloueyre ponds. In short, you will see sand, land, roads, twisted trees, and a dune that separates the freshwater pond from the saltwater ocean. Along the way, you will discover the local maritime heritage such as the "piteys", pontoons used for eel fishing, and the Pont des Trounques. Those without vertigo can climb to the top of the observatory. This lookout point at the edge of the pond offers a panoramic view of the ocean and forest. Orx Marsh Nature Reserve

This reserve is a mix of lakes, willow groves, reed beds, rush beds, and meadows. It extends over the municipalities of Labenne, Orx, and Saint-André-de-Seignanx, north of Bayonne and away from the ocean. This property of the Coastal Conservatory is famous for its strong ornithological interest. It has even been integrated into the European network Natura 2000 under the Habitats and Birds Directives. It is indeed a favorite headquarters for migratory birds. Access to the site is free, but there are also public nature activities with a nature guide. You will be able to meet the inhabitants of this wetland area. Guided nature hikes are planned. You will explore the protected area of the Nature Reserve, the sensitive sectors, on the closed and secret part of the marsh. The hikes will be 13-15 kilometers long.

Eco Park Izadia

In the town of Anglet.

At the mouth of the Adour River and along the Atlantic Ocean lies the eco-friendly park Izadia, established at the end of 2007. This space allows the public to discover the ecology and biodiversity of coastal wetlands and helps understand the balance and relationships between ecosystems. During your visit, you will see a variety of habitats typical of coastal and back-dune environments. Children can enjoy the naturalist kit, while binoculars are provided for better observation. It takes about 45 minutes to complete the entire tour. Please note that the site is closed to the public from November to January for maintenance and preparation for the next year's exhibitions and activities. Admission to the park is free, except for guided tours and groups. Nearby, there is a multi-sports field, playgrounds for children, a skate park on the green spaces, the Pignada Forest, cycling paths, shaded picnic areas, and most importantly, the.Barre Beach with its pedestrian promenade along the seafront for over 4 kilometers

Cousseau Pond Nature Reserve

This space owes its name to the.At the pond "Cousseau", classified as a National Nature Reserve and located between the Carcans-Hourtin lake to the north and the Lacanau lake to the south. This 600-hectare site reveals an extraordinary flora and fauna. You will pass through the maritime pine forest, green oaks, marshes, and wooded dunes. Les Grottes des Fontaines et du Régulus

Temporarily closed for renovations, the caves will reopen in July 2022, finally! Nestled on the right bank of the Gironde Estuary, in Meschers-sur-Gironde, this tourist site attracts 70,000 visitors per season. A unique place where you can observe the limestone cliffs and troglo habitats. Exploring this exceptional heritage allows tourists to discover the famous Meschers cliffs for 45 minutes. The tour is translated on tablets in English, German, Dutch, Spanish, and Italian. For night owls, evening tours are organized every Tuesday evening in July and August to explore the famous troglodytes of Meschers. The "Passengers of the Régulus" troupe will take you on an...It's a crazy adventure that will be full of surprises.

Thursday evenings in the summer, between 9pm and 11pm, the Grottes du Régulus dive into a mysterious atmosphere with the sunset and open their doors for you to admire this spectacle. Several activities are planned for children. With Minidik's treasure hunt, they will have to answer the questions of this shrimp and participate in a draw at the end of the season to try to win prizes. Bruges Marsh Nature Reserve

Just near Bordeaux, two kilometers from the Garonne on the left bank, lies the Bruges Marsh Nature Reserve. This site covers 265 hectares and offers various landscapes, mostly shaped by humans. Its strength? Its exceptional flora. Among the 512 species identified, two are nationally protected: the common Fleabane and the Ophioglossoid-leaved Buttercup. Different meadows cover three-quarters of the site, separated by about thirty kilometers of ditches, streams, or temporary and permanent water bodies. The permanent exhibition, the 2.5 kilometer trail, and the three observatories are free to access. APlease note that two observatories are accessible to people with reduced mobility.
