Delicious Bretzel: the Alsatian counter that warms up Bordeaux

A few steps from the Place de la Victoire, there is a sweet smell of pretzels that comforts us. As we discover them, our intrigued nostrils, our tantalized taste buds, and our awakened stomachs beg us to taste them. And the surprise is up to our expectations. Deli Bretzel (formerly S'GILT), the pretzel counter combined with a coffee shop, is celebrating its first birthday and continues to make people happy.

A true ode to Alsace has settled between the Capucins district and the Tortoise Square last January. Behind this mountain of pretzels, we find Arthur and Juliette who both work behind the counter as well as behind the scenes. These two Alsacians, with origins and hearts from Alsace, know the recipe for the Alsatian specialty (and all its carefully guarded secrets) like the back of their hands. But the idea is to go even further by democratizing and modernizing the specialty. "Give it a little pep," they would say. Forget about the rustic decoration, old-fashioned tablecloths, and traditional costumes, the couple welcomes us into a warm, trendy, and colorful place. The 55m2 space accommodates up to 14 people (and a few more on the terrace) surrounded by blue and white walls and an orange corrugated metal counter. In front of this counter, customers are left speechless.

Rediscovering Alsace...

On the menu, good news: Pretzels can be enjoyed at any time of the day. Choose from savory options like the goat cheese-honey pretzel, the revisited 3 cheeses, the bacon gratin, the veggie, or the pure Alsatian with its secret cheese from the region. In total, 8 savory recipes are on the menu and rotate every 2 months. And for snack time, S’GILT delights us with sweet pretzels covered in chocolate, marshmallows, or even Kinder Bueno & hazelnuts.

And on top of that, a coffee shop? That's really something!

Since Arthur and Juliette have many talents, they have also decided to launch a coffee shop where they will offer locally roasted coffee in Alsace accompanied by delicious homemade pastries worthy of a tea room. Brioche, cinnamon rolls, Nutella-filled brioches, brownies, cookies, and tarts are displayed in the window, tempting us with their deliciousness. Watch out, we might eat everything in sight...
