The Editor

A real crush for this new, inventive and gourmet street-food restaurant, which opened in November on Fondaudège street, next to Tourny. Very quickly, it has become a favorite canteen, a meeting spot for friends, colleagues or even couples... Who take away and then hide in the Jardin Public (2 minutes walk away) to stroll for the rest of the day, with their bellies and hearts full!

Gustave: Chefs street food!

Our favorite, Gustave. This restaurant stands out, breaks the rules. The concept is simple: 100% homemade dishes that invite you to travel. The journey is a predominant theme here. Paintings or photos of the good old "Gustave" who traveled the world in search of the best cooking secrets adorn the walls. And it seems he did a great job. Each dish offered at the restaurant (always a fish, a meat, a special, a guest of the month, and 2 veggies) takes inspiration from different global cuisines. You'll find influences from Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Mexican, Sub-Saharan, and Peruvian cuisines... The intentionally limited menu is incredibly creative. And you can enjoy it all through delivery.

Don't miss out on the "penne, creamy herb pesto, parmesan, hazelnuts, orange and lemon juice" - the "Chicken a la mafé, jasmine rice, sweet green pepper salad, sweet potato condiment, crushed peanuts - the roasted beef, mushroom sauce, green curry, buckwheat rice, garlic reduction, frisée salad, mustard vinaigrette and grilled panko or the hot Limousin beef club, garlic mayonnaise, grilled red cabbage, sweet onion.

An invitation to gastronomy from elsewhere

One must say that the two founders have an impressive background. One has worked at Uber Eats and masters the codes of street food like no one else, while the other comes from the finest starred establishments in France. Result: A formidable duo for a chef's restaurant! Mathieu, one of the founders, explains to us that Gustave is based on 3 key elements: Affordable (the prices are surprisingly low despite the quality of the dishes and their generous servings), Homemade (which they will never deviate from, even under torture) and Fast. 3 minutes is the maximum time to wait after placing an order. Whatever it takes!

An explosion of flavors, techniques, and boldness

And just so you know, the prices are - surprise, surprise - very affordable. You can expect to pay between €8.90 and €12.90 for the most expensive dish. For drinks, it will cost you €2 to enjoy unlimited beverages (mint lemonade or agua de jamaica). The establishment can accommodate 23 guests indoors and 12 on the sunny terrace. Like any street food restaurant, it operates on a self-service basis. You clear your own tray and make your own coffee. Free as a bird.

The passionate founders are already considering opening new, more conceptual locations in Bordeaux. We wish them the same success as their first venture, which is always bustling. Well-deserved success!
