When the Guardian unveiled the top 10 restaurants in Bordeaux

The British newspaper "The Guardian" published in 2016 a ranking of the 10 best restaurants in the city of Bordeaux. Since then, 7 years have passed, most of the restaurants have permanently closed while others haven't aged a bit!

Published on March 22, 2016 on the website, the article from the famous English newspaper listed the best restaurants in Bordeaux. While it praises the young establishments in the city, the journalist still gives us a little dig, starting off by reminding us that " if Bordeaux is the capital of wine, it was until recently lagging behind in terms of gastronomy compared to other cities in France."  We're good sports, we accept the criticism. Especially since the city of Bordeaux has expanded its gastronomic offerings, becoming the French city with the most restaurants per capita.

What about the Bordeaux gastronomic scene since 2016.

Back in the day, to explain the new wave of restaurateurs, the newspaper highlighted the beauty of the city, which attracted as many young chefs as new arrivals and tourists who loved to cook. As the key players in this renewal, the top 10 establishments in the city were ranked based on their prices and the creativity of their cuisine.

Only 4 out of the 10 restaurants are still open

The locavore restaurant Belle Campagne (now replaced by Berthus) was at the top of the list, closely followed by Rudy Ballin's establishment, Côté Rue, which no longer exists. Next up was a wine bar, Flacon, in third place but it has also closed down.ute; the curtain. We find our Philippe Etchebest and his famous Fourth Wall in 6th place in the ranking, just after le Miles, which we had already mentioned here ! Also included are le Bouchon Bordelais, Racines, or le Chien de Pavlov, which are still must-visit spots today! Time flies, but the classics remain...
