This is the latest addition to Saint-Michel. Its name is La Gigi and it opened its doors yesterday, on Tuesday, June 1st. With its spacious terrace, furnished with high tables and chairs, La Gigi offers a menu of " bistronomic street food" gathering international dishes made from local products. Some noteworthy dishes include veal nuggets alla milanese, octopus chimichuri with tarbais bean hummus and minty pea puree, and lamb tacos with pickled red onions, raw cream, and padrons. The concept revolves around sharing dishes to create a friendly and festive atmosphere, as envisioned by the two partners.

Learning alongside Joël Robuchon

Arthur Vonderheyden and Pierre Deleume have complementary restaurant experience. Arthur was a Chef for Joël Robuchon before spending 6 years abroad, between Jordan and Turkey. Upon his return, he participated in Top Chef 2020 and began to consider opening his own restaurant. He joined Pierre Deleume, who was then the owner of La Girondine in Bordeaux. Pierre, after completing a Master's in business school, started a career as a bartender at the Experimental Group in Paris, including at the Prescription Cocktail Club. Childhood friends, they reunite in their hometown to think about a new concept: La Girondine becomes La Gigi.

Once upon a time, in a land of endless possibilities, there was a magical Instagram post that spread joy and happiness to all who saw it. The colors were so vibrant, the shapes so delightful, it was like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. The little circles danced with glee, the rectangles stood tall and proud. And in the center, a mysterious message awaited, ready to enchant and inspire all who dared to read it. And so, the story of the Instagram post began, filled with wonder, beauty, and endless possibilities.

Two rooms, two distinct atmospheres

For this new adventure, the two founders have redesigned the restaurant with two rooms with very distinct atmospheres. The first one, with its long bar in acid copper created by Juliette De Ferluc, a recognized artist for her work.in copper oxide. The second one, called "the paintings", open in winter, where customers can enjoy the know-how of Chef Johan Jost, thanks to the open kitchen. Because it's the talented Johan Jost, who accompanied Mory Sacko at the ephemeral restaurant EDO at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris last summer, that we find in the kitchen. With Arthur, they have imagined a creative and gourmet menu that will evolve each week.

It's the Basque Inko Garat, a self-taught mixology enthusiast, who will be behind the bar. He was the Head Bartender at the Balagan restaurant when it first opened. Together with Pierre, they have developed a menu of varied and delicious cocktails, from the most popular to the most creative, like the Armin tonic, an Armagnac version of a Gin and Tonic with citrus fruits. In the dining room, regulars of La Girondine will be delighted to see Edouard Mercier, who has been loyal since the opening. Starting yesterday on the terrace, and from the 9th inside or outside, both locals and passing tourists can now enjoy this beautiful spot with a breathtaking view of the Basilica of Saint-Michel!
