Welcome to Shabada, the little Mediterranean jewel (dine-in or take-out) that has taken over Cours Victor Hugo in 2019. At Shabada, you will discover a cuisine that takes us on a journey from the Mediterranean basin to Lebanon, Greece, and Turkey. "The idea is to break the rules and offer a cuisine halfway between street food and quality, but always with a healthy and gourmet spirit," founder Benjamin tells us. A healthy cuisine of sharing and conviviality This forty-something native of Bordeaux (and from parents who are fine gourmets) is as passionate as his cuisine is bold. After gaining experience in the restaurant industry, enriching his knowledge of human beings in sociology and cultivating his communication skills by working in marketing, he now successfully achieves the daring challenge of a homemade world cuisine, healthy and delicious, in downtown Bordeaux.

An Ode to Eastern and Mediterranean Lands

Typical ingredients, secret seasonings, surprising spices, world recipes, and garden vegetables punctuate the menu. This thoughtful cuisine gives pride of place to legumes and fresh vegetables, respecting seasonality and flavors. Behind the stoves, the owners spread the Eastern specialties, always keeping an eye and giving good advice to the customers seated in front, intrigued by their agility and energy.

If the menu catches our eye, the decoration and layout of the space have also been carefully studied. As a result, the place can accommodate 20 people indoors and 30 on the terrace, just a stone's throw away from the docks and the Porte de Bourgogne that can be seen from the homemade benches with matching vibrant cushions and lampshades signed Designers Guild.

Discover a world of flavors and colors in a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere.

Takeaway pita sandwiches, on the go!

But let's get to the point. In just a few seasons, this young shoot had no trouble becoming a must-visit on Cours Victor Hugo. Here, we delight (with our fingers since it's tastier) in a Mediterranean cuisine with mezze to share - PDO feta with oregano, falafel, chickpea salad made by mom, PDO feta boreks, bell pepper and walnut puree, homemade pita bread, french fries with mint sauce, hummus - and refined dishes like tender and stringy 7-hour lamb as rare as it gets and milk-fed veal or chicken cooked at low temperature.

All of this, ladies and gentlemen, with a view of the kitchen, its oven as powerful as it is impressive, its beautiful turquoise blue mosaic, and the simple and smiling service of the team. A sip of house tea, even better! The most rushed ones, on the other hand, can indulge in takeaway pita breads, for a quick break.Enjoy a delicious and healthy lunch. Soon, the daily specials will make their appearance in the evening. 🍽️ #HealthyEating #DeliciousFood

Hummus parties, brunch, and exceptional cocktails!

Not only is Shabada our new favorite lunch spot, but it also turns out to be a great nighttime location with a menu featuring rare wines and unique cocktails. Special mention to the Moscow mule with authentic Russian vodka. Other little surprises include delicious tapas, ...ktails (like the Spritz) have recently appeared due to popular demand. Unmissable, the Sunday brunch is generous and succulent. For 19€ per person, from 11:30 am to 3 pm, we enjoy the house tea or coffee, a freshly squeezed juice or smoothie (depending on the daily market), pita bread with hummus, fig compote, Greek yogurt, Turkish-style scrambled eggs, and a fresh salad. To top it off, Shabada hosts its hummus party once a month to satisfy the most voracious appetites. See you next time. Shananananana, shanananana!
