SLAMECHE: an ethical and arty 100% male concept store in Bordeaux

SLM. S'LAMECHE STORE. The name refers to its owner. Clément, 27 years old from Lot, has been nicknamed Salameche, like the famous Pokémon, since his early childhood. Happy coincidence or sign of destiny, each letter also represented an aspect of his store concept. Sape - Life - Art - Monsieur - Ethique - Concept - Home - Ecolo.

The store set up shop at 19 rue Cheverus on October 19, 2019. It all started from a childhood passion. A fan of "sapes", the young man has always paid special attention to his choice of clothing. Arriving in Bordeaux in 2012, Clément quickly noticed that the market for ethical and responsible men's ready-to-wear clothing is a niche market. The idea takes shape in his mind. After a training in art and then in the hospitality industry and a stint in Paris, the clothes-addict returns to Bordeaux and decides to launch his concept store in the city center, with an online version available.

Art, green-touch, and ready-to-wear are hitting the road!

At S'LAMECHE STORE, you'll find a carefully curated selection of exclusive brands in Bordeaux. Among them, 80% are Made In France and 100% Made In Europe. In the 40m2 shop, you'll also find decor and accessories, sourced from local artisans. You'll discover slippers from Charente, caps from Tarn et Garonne, socks from Toulouse, and shirts from Mimizan. And because fashion and art go hand in hand, Clément decided to host ephemeral exhibitions in his store. Recently, the colorful and dreamlike world of Sirfayemunoz has taken residence there.

Ethics as the guiding principle 

All the pieces in the store are based on an ethical and responsible vision of consumption. Starting with their materials. We swap cotton and polyester for natural materials like lyocell (bamboo fiber), 100% organic cotton, or extra-fine Merino wool. "It's not normal to think that a t-shirt costs less than a ham sandwich" he warns. So of course, the price is a bit higher than low-cost stores. Prices range between €30 and €440 for the most expensive piece, a velvet jacket worthy of the finest. The latest treasure included? The 100% wool lined slippers made in Charente. Delightful to wear.

Exclusive Brands in the City

Today more than 12 different brands are already present at SLM. But their commitment doesn't stop there. As collections come and go in the store, there's no question of wasting. "The Eshop is there to allow customers to find previous collections. They may no longer be in stores, but we won't let them go unsold. They will therefore be available at discounted prices on the site," announces Clément. And right now, the store is slashing its prices, just before the sales that will start on January 20.

An address where the concept of art, culture, and eco-responsibility really comes to life. It's all in a relaxed atmosphere, set to the playlist of rock, rap, and a touch of jazz by an ambitious young man.
