Modern & Authentic Dishes
For 10 years now, Stéphanie and Frédéric, the two founders of Djawa, have been preparing Indonesian recipes that will take you straight to nearly 12,000 kilometers away from France. Their mission is simple: to introduce the country to the people of Bordeaux by offering reworked, modern, yet authentic dish formats, especially in terms of sauces. They aim to "move away from natural kitsch". And it works! The menu is short, effective, and sufficient to delight your palate. Whether your heart leans towards the curry of the day, chicken satay, nasi goreng, or even caramelized pork ribs, the professional team will give you the best advice so you can enjoy your incredible culinary moment. But let's face it, if our wallet and appetite allowed, we wouldn't leave without tasting everything. To contribute to the protection of the environment, the dishes are made with a maximum of local products. But a bit of Indonesia is still needed on the plate! The sauces and spices come directly from the country, especially the java sugar which is not found in France. Depending on the time you arrive, you may have the chance to smell the meats simmering since early morning. And if meat is not your cup of tea, no worries! A vegetarian menu is available with raw and cooked vegetables, tempeh, fragrant rice, or their Javanese curry. For a dish, expect to pay between 11 and 15 euros, on site, for take-out, or through delivery platforms.

Not just about the food... It's all about the great atmosphere!
Cooking well is good, but winning the hearts of the people of Bordeaux is even better! The friendly chefs prepare sharing platters with Indonesian chips for you. With the arrival of sunny days, you can enjoy them on the terrace, with family or friends. And to step it up a notch, you can come and organize a private or professional event by privatizing the entire second floor. The room can accommodate up to 30 standing people, with catering and drinks service available, promising you a festive atmosphere. Sounds like a dream, right? Other projects will surely come to life. Why not take advantage of the relaxed atmosphere of the place to develop weekend snacking with their homemade fruit juices and pastries?

A story born in France
Djawa is above all the story of a woman passionate about her origins. The daughter of an Indonesian and a Frenchman, Stéphanie lived for 18 years in Jakarta, the capital, and studied in a French-speaking high school. It was when she arrived in France for her studies that everything began. "I realized that few people knew about Indonesian cuisine, there were very limited fast food options. All you could find were burgers or paninis, while I was used to eating good hearty, slow-cooked meals," she explains. After working as a caterer for events to test her recipes, Stéphanie, along with her friend Frédéric, opened the first Djawa restaurant in Paris at the age of 25, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year. The name refers to the island of Java, the most populous in Indonesia. Today, she continues to share her love for Indonesian cuisine with the people of France.Hey, the couple of friends have other dreams. Why not other projects in Bordeaux or even better, internationally? Stay tuned...
