Darons Lacanau: The only restaurant-club in the seaside town
Its opening caused quite a stir! In the seaside town near Bordeaux, where the addresses are more relaxed and frequented by a beach-going youth, this one enforces a strict dress code! The new urban haven, with the standards of high-end Bordeaux establishments, has the monopoly on the coast.
Carried by the Maison SunSun (owner of the Sunrise and Sunset Cafés), the unique concept invites its guests to dine from 7pm in a sophisticated and cozy setting. On the menu? Contemporary French bistronomy served in a premium environment. The menu is signed by chef Benjamin Massot who has honed his skills in big establishments in Marrakech or for the Radisson Blu. With his team, he prepares intricate dishes that change every month.
A haven for lovers of good food
Among the best-sellers at Les Darons in Lacanau? The ribeye steak (no joking around with the meat, the breeds are exceptional and aged for 60 days), the perfect egg, sweetbreads/langoustine, the turbo snack, the mango shrimp tartare, and the ravioli with Trappe d'Echourgnac cheese (this cheese from Dordogne rubbed for months with walnut liqueur) for the pasta-lovers.
Like any respectable dad, the restaurant offers a nice wine list (the largest cellar in Lacanau) with 65 different terroir references. The selection was made by a renowned sommelier and the service team is trained to provide food and wine pairing advice to customers.
Before partying until 2am
Once there, at 10pm, the lights dim and the basses increase to switch to a club format. What was initially a glamorous restaurant now tends towards a dancing cocktail bar open to all. Well, almost all because the establishment promises to be selective by targeting people over 25. The atmosphere is set and then pulsates to the sounds of groove, disco, and 80s music. Quite rare for Lacanau, which mainly hosts mainstream clubs with current music.
Every Thursday, Les Darons organize their girls' nights (29€ entry with a cocktail, a tasting dish, and dessert included, with a girly playlist). On Fridays, it's night fever with promising DJ sets!
Halfway between a restaurant and a theater, with black walls, red velvet curtains, soft seating, and vintage knick-knacks: the elegant setting is conducive to intimate parties. With 60 seats indoors for dining, and double that for the later part of the evening, Les Darons invite you to a place of festivities where nothing will be noisy. What happens at home, stays at home!
The official inauguration will take place this Friday, July 12th, with a special evening open to everyone. Buffet provided, Disco Fever DJ set by Erik D - former artistic director of La C(o)orniche - will start at 8PM. You are all welcome!
