A new gourmet and popular third place

A new foodcourt in Bordeaux just a stone's throw from the Saint-Jean station. Let us introduce you to the Atelier des Citernes which opened its doors at the end of March in a former railway workshop where locomotives were once repaired. Seeing the potential of this historically rich area, Mr. Favant jumps on board and decides to completely refurbish the 1700 m2 space to turn it into a food market. After 5 years of work, the Atelier des Citernes comes to life with the ambition of creating a real village square.

6 restaurants with influences from around the world

With warmth and sharing as the main focuses, Atelier des Citernes houses 6 dining corners, a wine bar naturally called Pépin, and a central bar with a village tavern vibe. More than just a market, this new place promises a rich and kids-friendly program including live concerts, open mic nights, DJ sets, and soon a daytime club format with nannies on site to watch over the little ones while the adults dance freely.

A 100% local village café

With a resolutely epicurean spirit, the new spot aims to bring together the people of Bordeaux around a diverse food offering with almost every cuisine in the world represented. On the menu? Syrian cuisine from Panier de Nana, specialties of Southwest France with Tera and its Béarnais chef, Vietnamese gastronomy classics from Big Boss, Sicilian delights from Nicuzza, and finally land and sea best-sellers at Au Gré des Saisons. The 6th corner will be arriving very soon.

Right in the middle of these unique food spaces, you'll find the central bar of the hall: the sublime bar des Citernes operated by L'Atelier. Designed as the village bar (but a more upscale version), this is where everyone gathers. Despite its popularity, it has focused on a carefully curated menu with some exclusive offerings. The idea is to distance itself from what you see elsewhere: the Bordeaux coffee used to be roasted at the Saint-Jean station, some cocktails have a Peruvian twist, and all beers are local.

Preserving the essence of the Eiffel building

The new gourmet space also houses the cultural association Moon creative workspace and the solidarity caterer Marie Curry. A new beating heart in a neighborhood undergoing change, L'Atelier des Citernes brings an extra touch of soul and creates a town center within the city. The industrial-style setting has managed to preserve its vintage charm (beams, steel rivets, and Eiffel-style metal structure have been retained).

Olivier, the manager of the site, and Mathieu welcome you like true village chiefs at Club Med. Let the journey begin!
