The Editor

After conquering Marseille, Montpellier, and Toulouse, the startup PimpUp, launched in 2021 by Anaïs Lacombe and Manon Pagnucco, is continuing its expansion and landing in Bordeaux with a simple and effective solution: offering Bordeaux residents baskets of 100% French, seasonal fruits and vegetables saved from waste. The goal? To provide an economical and responsible alternative while supporting French producers. Thanks to a network of 30 partner pick-up points right from the start, locals can collect fresh products every week at reduced prices, all while lowering their environmental impact.

1.24 million tons of agricultural products wasted each year

Why throw away when we can save? The PimpUp model is based on an absurd reality: a large portion of fruits and vegetables produced in France is excluded from traditional channels for purely aesthetic reasons. Too big, too small, oddly shaped... These foods, which are still delicious, simply don’t have the “perfect” look demanded by large retailers. As a result, 1.24 million tons of agricultural products are thrown away each year, while producers struggle to sell their harvests at fair prices.

Already 500 tons of food recovered

With already 500 tons of food recovered and fairer pay for farmers, PimpUp shows that another model is possible. And for the people of Bordeaux, it’s a chance to enjoy ultra-fresh products at a smart price while doing something good for the planet. The baskets are available in 7 sizes: the Essential basket (€12.50) with 3.5 kg of fruits and vegetables, the Gourmet basket (€16.50) with 5 kg of products, the Family basket (€23.50) with 7 kg of fruits and vegetables, the Small Vegetables basket (€8.90) with 2.5 kg of vegetables, the Maxi Vegetables basket (€14.50) with 5 kg of vegetables, the Small Fruits basket (€9.90) with 2.2 kg of fruits, and the Maxi Fruits basket (€14.50) with 4 kg of fruits. But PimpUp also offers many grocery products to add to your baskets, the goal...waiting for 500 references in 2025 to allow for doing as many of your shopping as possible at low prices thanks to anti-waste initiatives.

Getting your basket is super easy! Just pick it up at nearby collection points, chosen from bakeries, wine shops, and other partner businesses that handle the distribution. Plus, PimpUp also offers companies the chance to become collection points for their employees, and already has 50 businesses on board! The first deliveries are expected at the beginning of April, but if you're really eager, you can already sign up for the waiting list to stay in the loop. A 100% No-Commitment Plan

Far from the rigid model of traditional subscriptions, PimpUp offers a 100% no-commitment plan. Every week, a basket is automatically scheduled, but subscribers can modify, pause, or cancel their order up to three days before delivery without any additional fees. A flexible approach designed to fit everyone's needs. There's no monthly subscription: each week, you only pay for the basket you ordered, and 75% of customers feel that this approach makes their daily lives much easier.
