Chez Georges loses some of its splendor

Every year, the specialized site Kebab-frites unveils its ranking of the best kebabs in France, an eagerly awaited reference for shawarma and döner lovers. In 2024, once again, Bordeaux is well represented, but some shake-ups are stirring the rankings.

The famous Chez Georges, a kebab institution in Bordeaux located in the Victoire district, holds an honorable place in the top 10, but it has taken a tumble. After coming in 4th place in 2023 and 8th last year, the restaurant has dropped two more places this year, now finding itself in 10th position nationally. While its status as local champion is now over, its charm remains intact and its legendary name endures for die-hard fans of the genre.

A comeback for Golden French Fries

The true triumph goes to Golden French Fries from Mérignac, which defies the odds by securing 6th place in the national ranking. With this rapid rise, it dethrones Chez Georges and becomes the new king of kebabs in Gironde.

However, the 2025 rankings leave some regrets for the people of Bordeaux. Establishments like Anatole, Aslan, Origine BK, and other must-visit spots in the Bordeaux scene are not even in the top 50. To distinguish the best addresses, the Kebabs-frites site conducts a real barometer based on several strict criteria: hygiene, meat quality, service, generosity of fresh vegetables, and attractive prices. Only kebabs with a minimum score of 4 out of 6 and listed on the site for at least a year can claim a spot on the podium.
