Since July 2023, Bordeaux has welcomed an exciting new spot: Hans, the city’s first Dutch snack bar. Born from the friendship of four partners, one of whom is Franco-Dutch, Hans has beautifully captured the friendly spirit of the Netherlands with an authentic place that balances modern street food and the culinary traditions of Amsterdam.

The concept is simple but unique. Located on Rue Sainte-Catherine, the counter offers a menu that's like a delicious journey. What’s on the menu? Signature burgers and hot dogs, croquettes, mozzarella sticks, gouda bites, frikandelles, and the famous "Bitterballen", "Kaassoufflé", or "Kipcorn". Add to that a must-have touch of ketchup/curry sauce from over there, and other homemade sauces crafted every morning. And don't forget the fresh fries, prepared Belgian-style in two cookings, for that perfect texture.

Self-Service Food Dispensers

The uniqueness of Hans Bordeaux lies in its innovative concept of heated lockers at the entrance, inspired by Dutch vending machines. These self-service lockers allow you to grab snacks that are kept warm. Perfect for a quick bite! "This will never take away the human touch; we will always say hello and present the menu with passion, but it allows for quick access to quality food," shares Vincent, one of the founders. The establishment offers dining in (with 31 seats inside and 12 on the terrace), takeout, and delivery.

Hans 2, the sweet version is born

Since February, Hans has expanded its offerings with a sweet bar just a few steps away at 241 rue Sainte-Catherine. This sweet corner boasts a complete range of deliciously Dutch desserts, like Liege waffles, Dutch pancakes, cromesquis, and homemade pastries crafted by a pastry chef in a kitchen out back. On the drink side, you can grab a selection of coffees, hot chocolates, milkshakes, juices, or lemonades for takeout only. “Customers can pop over to the salty Hans right across the street to sit down and enjoy their snack.” ».
