A Unique Ecosystem
There is a spot in Bordeaux that is popular among locals and tourists alike. Darwin Bordeaux is a cultural hub that brings together businesses, associations, shops, a cooking school, a farm, and environmentally conscious sports activities. With two key principles at its core (a strict commitment to environmental sustainability and the creation of spaces for exchange), Darwin shines with innovative ideas.
A 500 m2 organic Food Camp with industrial and vintage vibes
Inspired by the Berlin atmosphere, Darwin has not forgotten the essential: eating. Its General Store offers a vast 950 m² space, including several exceptional entities grouped in a semi-open hall with vintage and industrial style. The unique decoration, made of recovered furniture and flea market finds, along with one of the largest terraces in Bordeaux, creates a unique setting. This inspiring environment is ideal for enjoying a meal while breathing in the fresh air and watching the birds flutter around.
Delicious and organic sobriety on plates and more
This unique place combines several concepts under one roof: an organic bistro-refectory with 200 seats, a coffee pub, a pizzeria, a Babel Bread (organic bakery-pastry shop, organic grocery-snack), a visitable Bio chocolate-making workshop at Origines and a magnificent selection of natural or organic wines at the SUPERGRAAL cellar.
The General Store serves daily to darwiniens, neighbors, tourists, delicious seasonal dishes made from raw, local and organic products. Among the must-haves? Pizzas, daily salads, flavors to share, at very attractive prices. And always a vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free option. The restaurant is open to everyone, both in its structure and its prices.
The ideal spot for a quick lunch, to sit down with friends for a longer meal, or to stroll in the sun on comfy sofas or enjoy a Sunday outing with the family. In addition to ticking off a plethora of boxes, the Magasin Général also checks off the "kids-friendly" box with a play area, a library, high chairs, a changing table, and of course a children's menu.
Open all day, from 8am to 11:30pm (7:30pm on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays), the restaurant welcomes up to 400 people per day on the weekends. Its 140 seats, spread between high tables, chesterfield sofas, and large communal tables, fill up quickly. In addition, 2 food trucks from the house, including the BUN’S BRIGADE, offer an additional selection of hot dogs or crepes.©Romane Laudoyer
A Top Spot for Family Sundays
When it comes to drinks, Darwin has gone all out with a menu filled with a wide range of organic coffees, teas, lattes, house-made Meneau fruit juices, kombucha or homemade kefir. Not to mention all beers from LaLune Brewery. The artisan brewery produces a range of 100% organic beers on site, made from organically grown and malted cereals in the Southwest.
It's good to know that every weekend, an outdoor bar sets up in the courtyard. In one place, the possibilities seem endless: try a yoga class, test your skateboarding skills, admire street art, browse at the Emmaus corner, or get your Veja sneakers repaired or grab some gear at Club Sauvages... That's the spirit of Darwin. Hurry up!
