The 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗯𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 in Bordeaux
In the Hôtel de Ville district, on the charming Rue des Ayres, Big Black Cook spreads good vibes and serves up sunny cuisine. From the outside, you're drawn in by the delightful aromas of cinnamon, nutmeg, and all those spices typical of the Caribbean. Because here, the motto is Caribbean cuisine. With a focus on bringing together all the specialties from the Caribbean islands (from Venezuela to Panama, including Jamaica, Cuba, and Haiti), Big Black Cook promises to take our taste buds on a journey and spice up our brunch breaks.

Colombo, sweet chicken, ropa vieja, burger jerk or chiquetaille
The restaurant, which opened in September 2024, offers inspiring recipes made with iconic island ingredients. Here, the stars of the show are fruits, vegetables, spices, and rum! Among the best-sellers, you'll find "Sweet Chicken" available in a vegan version with oyster mushrooms, "fried chicken" with jerk sauce, the shredded beef "ropa vieja" (a Hispanic dish with a Cuban twist), the classic "colombo," the must-try acras (available in shrimp, sardine, or vegetable versions), and the "chiktaille of cod."
.
Traditional dishes, burgers or veggie options
Let’s not forget the famous melting "plantain bananas" that some enjoy as independent sides. For a sweet touch, we can’t resist the "ti’mango" (like a Breton shortbread dipped in mango, lemon, and coconut), the "pineapple cake," the "coconut pie," or soon the revamped Mont Blanc.
It's good to know that all dishes are available in burger form with homemade sweet potato fries and house-made sauces (dog, criole, jerk sauce, or lemon mayo). Plus, there are several vegetarian options that cater to all dietary preferences. Because inclusivity and deliciousness are the key words at Big Black Cook.

The best of the Caribbean served with love

Here, everything is made with heart, and the service is sprinkled with familiarity, smiles, and complimentary digestifs...
