Opened since December in the place of Chai d’Ornon, the new disco trattoria offers a 100% homemade Italian cuisine in a completely revamped setting filled with funky music, pop colors, and carefully crafted recipes, all at an accessible average price for a friendly experience.
The new table of a successful restaurateur
At the helm of the project is Romain Cazalas (33 years old), a well-known restaurateur with Le Bal du Coq, La Guinguette du Coq, Poupoule, and Le Bistrot des Girondins. His ambition: to bring to Villenave-d’Ornon a concept that didn’t exist before. “I wanted to import a revisited trattoria, a new format for the city,” he explains.

The space features 60 indoor seats, a large terrace with 60 covers, and will transform this summer into a charming Italian bistro. It brings a “warm and joyful” vibe, complemented by an italo-disco soundtrack that sets the mood.
Fresh Italian Cuisine and Imported Products
The menu combines classic Italian dishes with well-crafted creations. On the antipasti side, you can find scamorza croquettes, pesto, and sun-dried tomatoes or a perfectly executed vitello tonnato. The Neapolitan pizzas, which rest for 48 hours for a light dough, already have their loyal fans, especially the Émilie Jolie (San Marzano tomatoes, Parma ham, figs, almonds, mozzarella).

When it comes to pasta, two dishes stand out: the Pasta Tartufo with its truffle aroma and especially the Lobster Club, linguine topped with tomato and basil and a half-grilled lobster. For dessert, it's all about sweetness with a fior di latte gelato, a generous tiramisu, or a panettone lost in Nocciolata, which has already become a must-try.
Soon, a little sister in downtown Bordeaux
Basta Cucina Italiana operates continuously, offering dine-in, takeout, delivery, and through Uber Eats. A spritz bar, an elaborate cocktail menu, and soon a Italian grocery store will enhance the offerings.
