Established at Place de la Bourse since 2009, Le Gabriel closed its doors at the end of June 2026 before its judicial liquidation. According to information revealed by Sud Ouest on October 8, its business has just been sold by mutual agreement to Jérémy Ferrari and Julien Kunika. A new Bordeaux adventure for the humorist, already heading the Fémina theater since 2025.
From the double-starred restaurant to the future hybrid venue
The address is emerging from several eventful years. Taken over in 2019 by the Bouard family, owners of Château Angélus, Le Gabriel had undergone a significant transformation
ion. His gastronomic restaurant, L'Observatoire du Gabriel, notably earned a second Michelin star in 2025, before the establishment closed the following year. The new owners have no intention of reproducing this model. According to information from Sud Ouest, the project should maintain a significant gastronomic dimension while making more room for culture. A comedy club and piano bar are notably among the options being considered, with dining geared more toward a bistronomic spirit and local products. The various floors of this iconic building are also set to be reimagined and redecorated.
Jérémy Ferrari tempers expectations: no opening date announced
While an opening in March2027 has already been mentioned, though the project still seems far from being completely finalized. When contacted by our editorial team, Jérémy Ferrari tells us he is currently "working on the concept, the layout, the décor" and doesn't have "even an opening date to announce".
So the exact face of the future Gabriel remains to be drawn. One thing is certain: after its sudden closure, this iconic address on Place de la Bourse will indeed get a new lease on life. A story to keep following.
