Starting this Friday, September 11th, the Bordeaux Mer Marine Museum is transforming its rooms into an urban jungle with around 60 original works by A-MO, a local street art figure known for his impressive animal compositions.

60 wild animals invade the museum

After the walls of Bordeaux and its metropolis, A-MO is changing playgrounds. With « Wild Blue », the self-taught artist brings his bestiary into the Musée Mer Marine, in the Bassins à flot district.

For nearly 4 months, original works will bring tigers, deer, kingfishers and other wild creatures into the museum rooms. An encounter between street art codes and those of the museum, with a single golden thread: celebrating the beauty and fragility of life.

The "paintag," A-MO's spectacular signature

A-MO became notably known thanks to a technique called "paintag". Up close, his works appear to be made up of hundreds of tangled tags, words, and signs created with spray paint or marker. Yet all it takes is stepping back a few meters to see an animal silhouette emerge.

Spotted after winning the Urban Vibrations competition in 2015, the Bordeaux artist has since had his work integrated into Bernard Magrez's private collection and exhibited at the Libourne Fine Arts Museum.

From Ultramarine Blue to Midnight Blue

For this new exhibition, one color stands out: blue. Ultramarine, azure, or midnight, it becomes in turn sky, sea, matter, and the environment in which animals evolve. A choice that resonates particularly well with the Sea Marine Museum. Rare in the animal kingdom, this color serves here as the backdrop for a broader reflection on biodiversity and the place of living things.
