The Atlantic Coast in the Spotlight
Every year, Holidu, a platform specializing in vacation rentals, compiles the ranking of France's most loved beaches based on ratings left on Google Maps. For 2025, the results confirm a trend that's already well established: Brittany takes the prize! The top three spots in the ranking are occupied by Breton beaches, including the stunning Blancs Sablons beach (4.8/5).
The Atlantic coastline shines overall: 11 of its beaches appear in the top 20, even overshadowing the Mediterranean, which usually gets all the honors. While the western coast is in the spotlight, New Aquitaine remains a bit on the sidelines.
Le Porge Océan: the Only Girondine in the Top 50
You have to go down to the 41st position to find the first beach in Gironde: Le Porge Océan, rated 4.6/5 by 1,370 internet users. Located just an hour away from Bordeaux, this vast stretch of golden sand, bordered by wild dunes, continues to charm those who love tranquility and wide-open spaces.
It’s the only beach in the department to make the ranking, despite the many advantages of the Gironde coastline. It may not be a grand achievement, but it holds a significant place in a study where the differences in scoring are only a few tenths of a point.

Two More Regional Beaches in the Rankings
Overall, only three beaches from Nouvelle-Aquitaine made it to the list of the top fifty most appreciated this year. Besides Le Porge Océan, we have Plage Sud (47th) and Grande Plage (49th), both rated 4.6/5. Their exact locations aren't detailed in the rankings, but they're associated with popular spots like Capbreton, Hossegor, or Biarritz, loved by surfers and vacationers alike.

Despite having a low representation in this national ranking, the beaches near Bordeaux still have plenty of advantages to showcase, and their summer attendance doesn't seem to match this ranking.
