Located at the port of Audenge, just a stone's throw away from the Certes and Graveyron natural area, this iconic spot has welcomed bathers back since May. Naturally fed by the tides, it attracts families, regulars, and visitors every summer in search of a more authentic swimming experience.

A giant pool powered by the tides
Measuring 170 meters long and 17 meters wide, the Audenge pool is considered the largest seawater pool in Europe. Here, there are no chlorine or artificial waves: the water from the Arcachon Basin is naturally refreshed at high tide.
This place is delightful for both its scenery and its vibe. Oyster huts, channels, grass, sand, and wooden docks create a typical landscape of the Basin. The gradual depth (ranging from 30 centimeters to 1.90 meters) allows everyone to enjoy it.

A Historic Spot by the Basin
Created at the end of the 19th century as a retention basin to limit flooding, the site was transformed in the 1920s into a swimming area, particularly for learning how to swim. Since then, generations of locals have learned their first strokes there. Over time, this place has truly become a beloved local symbol.

“It’s both a swimming pool and a natural space”, summarizes the town of Audenge.
A swimming area accessible to everyone
The site now features 3 pools suitable for different levels, changing rooms, showers, and a playground for children. Since 2025, an amphibious wheelchair called Tiralo has also been available, allowing people with reduced mobility to enjoy swimming. Throughout the summer, swimming lessons are offered by the O’laka school for children from the age of 5, with sessions organized in small groups.
Opening dates in 2026
The pool is open:
- from May 14 to May 17, then on weekends in May from 2 PM to 6:30 PM,
- in June and September on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays,
