After attracting more than 30,000 visitors in 2025, this unmissable event is celebrating its 23rd edition with a simple promise: to bring history to life in all its glory, set against one of the most beautiful heritage backdrops of the Gironde coast.
A Journey Back in Time to Soulac 1900
The experience begins even before you arrive at Soulac-sur-Mer. A vintage steam train connects Bordeaux to the seaside resort in just under 4 hours, giving visitors a first taste of the world back in 1900.
.
Upon arrival, the streets come alive: parades of vintage vehicles, roaming performances, costumed figures, concerts, exhibitions, and lively activities instantly immerse the audience in the elegant and festive atmosphere of the Belle Époque.
Villas as an Open-Air Stage
Known as the “City of 500 Villas,” Soulac-sur-Mer offers a perfect natural backdrop for this historical interlude. With the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Basilica of Notre-Dame-de-la-Fin-des-Terres, the old village, and its famous neo-colonial villas, the city truly becomes an open-air theater.
Built between 1860 and 1940, these colorful villas with their covered galleries and unique shapes are a huge part of the identity of this seaside resort. During the festival, they enhance the illusion and add even more depth to the costumes and street scenes.
A Living Heritage Supported by Locals
In Soulac 1900, heritage is just as much about experience as it is about admiration. Throughout the year, about 10 volunteers work on creating costumes for the event through the sewing workshop of the Label Soulac association. For the grand parade, 144 pieces are crafted from archives and careful historical research. Long dresses, accessories, period outfits: every detail adds to the authenticity of the event.
Visitors can also join in on the fun by dressing up. DèOn April 20th, the Boutique 1900 located at Villa Neptune, in the place of the Basilica, offers the option to rent or order your outfit.

A big popular and intergenerational celebration
With nearly 200 musicians and 70 circus performers expected, Soulac 1900 is all about creating a festive atmosphere that's fun for everyone. The festival will kick off on Friday, June 5, with a concert by the Basque Choir at the basilica. The vintage market, the 1900 Museum, exhibitions, the Sunday Elegance Prize, street performances, children's workshops, auctions, and a dance evening will round out the program.
