A historic 82nd arrival on the banks of the Garonne

The return of the Tour de France to Bordeaux confirms the city's deep connection to the Grande Boucle. With over 80 arrivals since 1903, the city is ranked just behind Paris in the standings for hosted stages. « Our city, increasingly cycling-friendly, will welcome the event for the 82nd time with fervor and enthusiasm », celebrated Pierre Hurmic, mayor of Bordeaux.

Just like in 2023, the finish line will be in front of the Place des Quinconces, after a long straight stretch of 3 kilometers along the quays. The peloton will cross the Garonne via the Simone Veil bridge before finishing this stage designed for the sprinting kings.

A route through the Landes forests and Gironde vineyards

175 kilometers long, this stage will start in Hagetmau and will weave through the Landes forests before entering Gironde via the towns of Guillos, Origne, and Landiras, which were affected by the 2022 wildfires. The riders will then pass through Illats, Cérons, and Cadillac, where they will cross the Garonne River.
The next part of the route will follow the river through Béguey, Langoiran, Cambes, and Floirac, before the final sprint towards Bordeaux. There's just one challenge on the route: the Béguey climb. “If the sprinter trains stay in line, they will arrive on time at the Garonne quays for a high-speed showdown,” commented Christian Prudhomme, the director of the Tour.

The 113th edition of the Tour de France will kick off from Barcelona on July 4, 2026 before making its way to Paris on July 26. The Bordeaux stage promises to be one of the highlights of July, filled with community spirit and sporting excitement. Awarded the title of “Bicycle City” for the Tour de France with the highest rating of 4 bicycles, Bordeaux reaffirms its status as a national reference in terms of bike-friendliness. It’s the only city in France, along with Paris, to receive this honor.
