€50 million in works for the Stone Bridge in Bordeaux
A significant facelift is needed for the structure built on the orders of Napoleon I. Iconic in Bordeaux, the bridge that spans the Garonne and connects the right bank to the left bank will undergo major consolidation works from 2025 to 2029. 3 years of construction and a substantial budget of €50 million are needed to strengthen the historically classified building which shows significant signs of weakness."This structure has been sinking under its own weight for many years," said Stéphane Pokora, director of roadways and bridges at Bordeaux Métropole.

Maintenance work on the Pont de Pierre in Bordeaux !
This massive project - which includes reinforcing the micropiles of the 16 supports holding the 5000-ton bridge and consolidating the masonry - will have an impact on locals. The tram line A will not run in July and August during these 3 years of work. Nor will any motorized vehicles. Substitute buses will be provided across the Saint-Jean bridge.
Pedestrians and cyclists will have free access ! However, the metropolis will take the opportunity to carry out works at the switch at Porte de Bourgogne, foreseeing at least 3 months of interrupted service for lines C and D.
Upcoming disruptions, to protect this historical gem and (the duty to be immutable) of our heritage.
