Starting Monday, August 24, 2026, a new construction project will transform a section of the Bordeaux ring road. Between interchanges 12 (Chemin Long) and 11 (Airport), in Mérignac, a lane reserved for public transportation will be created. The work will result in nighttime traffic closures until Thursday, August 27.
A new lane dedicated to buses on the ring road
Funded equally by the State and Bordeaux Métropole, this project represents an investment of €350,000. The goal is to create a lane reserved for TBM buses and Cars Express on a particularly busy section of the inner ring road, between Bordeaux-Mérignac airport and the technology park. This new section continues the one already put into service between interchanges 13 (Pessac) and 12 since 2019.
Four nights of ring road closures
The work will take placeat night, to minimize its impact on traffic. Each evening, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., from Monday, August 24 to Thursday, August 27, 2026, the inner ring road will be closed to traffic between exits 12 and 11.
Teams will work on laying asphalt, road markings, and installing the necessary signage to put this new lane into service.
Detours in place
Throughout the construction period, alternative routes will be set up via the exits and local road network.
Drivers will be informed thanks to variable message signs installed on the ring road as well as specific signage ahead of the construction site. Authorities are asking users to plan their trips in advance and to respect speed limits and traffic instructions to ensure the safety of work teams
present at the construction site.
